The Spring term courses are underway and it is no longer possible to join one of these courses. If you would like to know about the Summer term you can sign up to the mailing list on the home page or send an email.

All courses are ten weeks long. There will be a break between 13th-17th February. The beginners course costs £60 (£55 concessions), improvers and intermediate courses cost £75 (£70 concessions). There is an early enrolment period when the concessionary price is available to everyone which ends on 16th December. Please note that your place on any course is not guaranteed until payment has been received. Other payment options are available, please email for details.

Beginners classes

Beginners classes are suitable for those with little or no bellydance experience. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of bellydance technique and posture, and learn about some of the different styles of music and dance seen in Egypt. All beginners courses cover the same material. Students sign up for one course, but can make up any missed classes by attending the other course.

Improvers classes

Improvers classes are for dancers who are confident with their basic technique and are ready for a new challenge. You will build upon the techniques learned at beginner level to learn more complex moves and variations. You are advised to spend at least two terms at beginner level before starting this class. All improvers courses cover the same material. Students sign up for one course, but can make up any missed classes by attending another course.

Intermediate classes

This class is more performance-oriented than improvers. The technique is harder and you may find you sometimes have to step outside your comfort zone! The choreography you learn will be more challenging and involve working as a group. You do not have to perform the dances we learn, but there will be opportunities for those who wish to do so. You are advised to spend one or two terms at improver level and talk with Emma before starting this class. Are you ready to push yourself?

Private lessons

Private lessons are most suitable for improvers and higher level dancers who wish to work on a specific aspect of their dancing. The lesson is tailored to your requirements, perhaps you want to refine your technique, master a new prop or would like help in creating and performing your own choreography. A one hour lesson costs £25, plus any studio hire and travel costs, and can be shared between up to four dancers. Discounts are available for dancers who would like to book a series of three or more lessons. Private lessons are usually held at weekends but out of term week nights may be available. A deposit to cover the cost of studio hire is required to secure your booking.
