Drop in Classes
Drop in classes are open level, so whilst they will be suitable for absolute beginners wanting to give bellydancing a go there will also be material for more experienced dancers. Classes will cover posture, technique and combinations, but unlike my regular courses there will not be any choreography. Each class costs £5, payable on the night. I recommend you arrive early to give yourself time to get changed, and to guarantee your place, because there are a limited number of places in each class. Wear clothes that are easy for you to move in, such as trousers (not jeans!) or a long skirt. If you want to wear shoes they should be flat, or you can dance in your bare feet.
- Cambridge: Wednesday, 6:30-7:30pm, Centre at St Pauls, 16th July, 23rd July, 30th July and 6th August
- Ely: Thursday, 7:00-8:00pm, Chequer Studio, 17th July, 24th July, 31st July and 7th August
Beginners classes
Beginners classes are suitable for those with little or no bellydance experience. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of bellydance technique and posture, and learn about some of the different styles of music and dance seen in Egypt. All beginners courses will cover the same material, but due to the demand for places there are two courses in Cambridge.
- Cambridge: Monday, 6:15 - 7:15pm, Centre at St Pauls, classes start 22nd September
- Cambridge: Wednesday, 6:30 - 7:30pm, Centre at St Pauls, classes start 24th September
- Ely: Thursday, 7:45 - 8:45pm, Chequer Studio, classes start 25th September
Improvers classes
Improvers classes are for dancers who are confident with their basic technique and are ready for a new challenge. You will build upon the techniques learned at beginner level to learn more complex moves and variations. You are advised to spend at least two terms at beginner level before starting this class.
- Cambridge: Monday, 7:30 - 9:00pm, Centre at St Pauls, classes start 22nd September
- Ely: Thursday, 6:00 - 7:30pm, Chequer Studio, classes start 25th September
Intermediate classes
This class is smaller and more performance-oriented than improvers. The technique is harder and you may find you sometimes have to step outside your comfort zone! We still have fun though! The choreography will be more challenging and involve working as a group. You do not have to perform the dances we learn, but I will try to arrange opportunities for those who wish to do so. You are advised to spend one or two terms at improver level and talk to me before starting this class. Are you ready to push yourself?
- Cambridge: Tuesday, 8:00 - 9:30pm, Abbey Pool studio, classes start 23rd September
All courses are ten weeks long. Beginners costs £55 (£50 concessions), improvers and intermediate cost £70 (£63 concessions). All courses are available at a the reduced price until 15th August. Other payment options are available, please email for details.
Private lessons
Private lessons for groups of up to four are available by arrangement. These are tailored to your level and requirements and will normally be held at weekends during term time. Out of term, weeknights may be available.
